Minnie or 'Mini'?
Introducing a set of twelve Minnie Pwerle paintings measuring 30cm x 15cm each. Possibly Minnie's smallest works ever painted.
This set was painted in early 2004 at a studio workshop in Alice Springs and have been held in private collection for over a decade.
Maggie Bird Unearthed Exhibition
Maggie Bird Unearthed showcases a collection of symbolic dot paintings by Utopia artist Maggie Bird in what marks her first solo exhibition.
Born in 1973 as the eldest of 11 children, Maggie Bird grew up in the southern region of Utopia. Her country is Ilkawerne which spreads across this area and continues south toward Alice Springs, some 150km away. A small bright green plant called Alpar can be found abundantly here.
Golden Leaf Painting by Gloria Petyarre
Painted in Matisse's Yellow Oxide, a rich colour reminiscent of yellow ochre found in Central Australia. The colour is complimented with Ash Pink and Australian Ghost Gum, and lit with Titanium White.

Queenie Lion's Body Paint
This warm red ochre painting with crisp white lines represents Queenie Lion's ceremonial body paint.
Queenie Lion is an Alyawarr elder living in Utopia's northern most reaches; a remote part of Central Australia located on the fringes of three of Australia's largest deserts. Her country, Atnwengerrp, is nearby.
Each country has their own set of natural colours and patterns used for ceremonial designs.

Exploring Alvira Bird’s dot paintings
Alvira Bird has been working on a series of dot paintings in different sizes which are finally complete and now online.
Her works are heavily influenced by the symbolism and characteristics of three Dreamings that belong to her country. These are Alpar Seed Story, Akatyerre (desert tomatoes) and Ahakeye (bush plum).
Desert Dots III Exhibition
Desert Dots III exhibition is a collection of monochromatic works paired with dot paintings dominated by vibrant purple and orange hues.

New Dreamliner 'Emily'
In case you missed it, QANTAS' new Dreamliner, named 'Emily', made international headlines last month when it made its inaugural flight from London to Perth non-stop in 17 hours.
The plane is named after Emily Kame Kngwarreye of Utopia and its livery is based on her 1991 artwork 'Yam Dreaming'. There are close to 5000 dots on the aircraft.

The blending of burnt umber - a classic brown, and crimson red - a romantic, blue-based red, provokes an arcane sense of rhythm and adventure; as if we're watching the land change at sundown, where the deep, rich desert colours intermingle and play with the shadows.

Itsy-bitsy paintings by Angelina Ngale
Angelina Ngale of Ahalpere country paints figures of women and children prepared for ceremonial song and dance. Through this they are helping Ngangkers (bush doctors) remove any sickness related to Atham-areny spirits.

Purple Power: Decorating with Ultra Violet
Ultra Violet is a powerful blue-based purple reminiscent of a mystical night sky. It is described on the Pantone website as complex and contemplative, suggesting "the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now.”
As Ultra Violet is close in shade to a purple used by our artists - Matisse's Dioxazine Purple, we are excited to feature this colour.
