SOLD OUT
Betty Mbitjana's work is a representation of her mother's country, Atnwengerrp, which is located in Central Australia’s remote Utopia region.
Linear designs represent women’s ceremonial body paint designs for Atnwengerrp country and concentric circles represent waterholes across the land. Small circles represent anemangkerr which is a small bush melon that is sacred to the people of Atnwengerrp.
Betty’s mother was Minnie Pwerle, a widely renowned artist during the late 90's and early 00's who passed away in 2006. It is her style and subject matter with which Betty has developed into her own and joyfully carries on an important legacy.
