About the Artists
Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.

Nakita adores animals and the nomadic bush turkey, or Australian Bustard, is one she loves to paint. It's native name is arwengerrp and it can be found in tall, thick grassy areas - hiding while it looks for food. It likes to eat small seeds and bush fruits; especially akatyerre (bush tomatoes).
Nakita has family all across Central Australia but the dense bushy land of Amperlatwatye is where she calls home. Her mother is Joycie Morton Petyarre, and her grandmother award winning artist Betty Morton. Nakita enjoys painting, sporting events and cuddling her adopted kitten.
