Sandra paints bush medicine found in the country around Ampilatwatja, north of Utopia in Central Australia, and are used for soothing skin infections by way of an ointment, or mixed with water to make a drink to help with coughs and colds. Bush medicine is widely used here and the knowledge continues to be passed down to younger generations.
Painting bush medicine stories is important because it helps to maintain a strong knowledge and culture for the community.

Sandra grew up in a remote community in Central Australia called Ampilatwatja (or Amperlatwatye), just north of the Utopia region. She has one child and splits her time between Ampilatwatjaand her mother's side of the family from Utopia.
